Elwood transforms a 1930s Californian Bungalow into a 500 sqm family home that harmonises heritage character with contemporary family living. Seamlessly integrated with the original structure, a new rear extension enhances spaciousness and flow. Designed for a busy family of five, the arrangement combines shared zones with secluded retreats. The house is oriented around the garden, allowing natural light to pour into every room. Its spatial language carries a classic European sensibility – original detailing is echoed in the new architecture, while highly crafted custom joinery and sourced antique and custom furnishings reflect the client’s wish for timeless materials that age gracefully.
